ÜnOfficially Yours
is a 2012 Filipino romantic comedy film directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina
and starring John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin. It is produced and
released by Star Cinema. The film premiere released domestically on
February 15, 2012. It is currently the highest grossing movie of 2012.
Synopsis
Macky
Galvez (John Lloyd Cruz) is a depressed young man contemplating why he
had several failed relationships. Galvez meets Ces Bricenio (Angel
Locsin), a modern-day woman who is afraid of commitment.

Production
Development
Molina brainstormed the story back in 2009. In 2011, Star Cinema
offered the main protagonists to Cruz and Locsin after their primetime TV Series that aired on ABS-CBN, Imortal. It was first announced in the now defunct showbiz news program, SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon. The film's tentative title was I Honestly Love You and later changed to UnOfficially Yours.
The film's principal photography started September 21, 2011 in Batangas
and in the headquarters of the Manila Bulletin in Manila.
Promotion
The cinema trailer was released during the previews of the also Star Cinema produced films, Enteng Ng Ina Mo and Segunda Mano. The full trailer was televised on January 29, 2012 during Locsin and Cruz's guesting on the talk show, Gandang Gabi, Vice!.
It became a worldwide trending topic on the social networking site,
Twitter. The film became the front page cover of the February 15, 2012
issue of the Manila Bulletin during its premiere day.
Music
The
film's official soundtrack is "If You Asked Me To" originally sung by
Patti LaBelle. It is covered by Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto. The
song's music video was released on Star Cinema's official YouTube
account.
Release
Critical response
The film is graded "B" by the Cinema Evaluation Board of the
Philippines with a rating of R-13. Philbert Ortiz Dy of ClicktheCity.com
gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and said "Unofficially Yours is sweet
enough, but it ends up ringing false.. The characters lose sympathy once
the movie enters its melodramatic third act, and whatever charm the
film still had dissipates as it contrives the elements of romcom
formula." The film received 82% audience rating from Rotten Tomatoes
Box office
According
to ABS-CBN News, the film opened with an P18.5 million gross
nationwide. The film grossed P71.5 million at 140 screens on its first
weekend of release beating out Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
in the Philippine Box Office On its second week, the film dropped 58.3%
and grossed 29.8 million, bringing it a total of 113.5 million gross in
two weeks.
The movie's gross income reached 144 million in the third week of
showing. After a month, the film had grossed P165 million at the box
office.
Unofficially Yours is currently the fifth highest grossing Filipino film of all time
'Unofficially Yours' earns P18.5M on first day

MANILA, Philippines -- Star Cinema's "Unofficially Yours,"
the first movie teamup of John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin, earned P18.5
million on its first day, beating the hit film "No Other Woman," which
opened at P15 million.
"#unOfficially yours 1st day gross: P18.5 million!:) Congratulations
@143redangel and JLC!!!," Roxy Liquigan, ad prom director of Star
Cinema, confirmed on Thursday via Twitter.
Replying to messages of congratulations on Twitter, Locsin tweeted on Thursday: "Thank you Lord!*halik sa lupa*"
SM Cinemas announced on Twitter that it is opening two screens of the movie in "almost all" of its branches starting today.
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, "Unofficially Yours" tells the story of a casual relationships.
The opening numbers of "Unofficially Yours" bode well for the film,
especially since "No Other Woman" went on to become the second most
successful movie last year with total gross revenues of P282.5 million
for its entire run.
The success of "Unofficially Yours" also cements Cruz's strong appeal at the box office.
Six movies starring Cruz are on the list of all-time top local films
shown in the Philippines, according to figures from Box Office Mojo --
more than any other actor. In fact, Cruz's films occupy the third to
seventh spots on the list. These six films alone have earned more than P1 billion in the box office.
On Tuesday, Cruz and Locsin had a successful premiere night at SM Megamall in Ortigas.
"Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng pumunta at nanuod ng #ÜnOfficiallyYours premiere!☺ salamat po talaga :)," Locsin via Twitter.
The film, which was graded B by Cinema Evalution Board is the Valentine's offering of Star Cinema.
Home media
The uncut version of ÜnOfficially Yours will be released in original DVDs and VCDs on April 4, 2012.
International release
UnOfficially Yours
had an international premiere night on February 24, 2012 in Los
Angeles, CA in Alex Theater. It will also be released in several key
cities in the United States such as San Diego, CA, San Francisco, CA,
Sacramento, CA, Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Norfolk, VA, Aiea, HI, Park
Ridge, IL, Las Vegas, NV, Bergenfield, NJ, and Seattle, WA.
