Only You

Only You (2009 TV series)

“Only you” is a Pinoy adaptation of a hit koreanovela, which is a fast-paced light romantic drama that is engaging and enjoyable to watch because of its eye candy color theme and deliciously prepared food as well as of the strong chemistry of its lead casts. The Pinoy version retains the basic core of the original Korean version.

The story revolves around people who are searching for their happiness and how this search will change their lives forever. Jillian is played by Angel Locsin, who is a very stubborn and proud girl who has a passion for cooking. Because she does not have an interest in the caregiver’s course she is studying, she goes to Korea without the blessing of her mother to study culinary arts as part of the prize she won in a cooking contest. Jonathan, played by Diether Ocampo, is the childhood friend who loves Jillian dearly and a frustrated swimmer. He follows Jillian in Korea and shares her passion in cooking.

TJ, played by Sam Milby, is from a wealthy family who owns a large hotel and various restaurants. He travels to Korea in search of his mother who abandoned the family when TJ was young. He meets Jillian during his search of his mother. Jillian is seeking the same woman in search of the recipe in making “talangkanin”.

They found TJ’s mother who is about to get remarried to a Korean. Jillian comforts TJ who is distraught over his mother’s remarriage. They spend the night together. Jillian ends up pregnant and gives up her dream to become a great chef without telling TJ about their son.

Six years later, they all have returned to live in the Philippines . Jillian is working in a low paying cooking job. TJ is taking over the operation of his family restaurant. Jonathan is working as a chef for one of the restaurants owned by TJ and financially supporting Jillian’s family, including her son, Joshua, because Jillian’s family have fallen on hard times.

TJ still has feelings for Jillian and he found her when he is searching for a new chef for his family restaurant. Trixie, the family friend of TJ, is in love with TJ and tries to confess her feeling to him.

How a couple will react after six years since they had a one night stand especially when they have a son and the woman hid the fact from the father?

Plot

Despite her mother's protests, Jillian (Angel Locsin) pursues her dream of becoming a chef by joining a cooking contest where she gets a chance to study culinary arts in different Asian countries. Before anyone can stop her, she is already on her way to South Korea with her long-time best friend, Jonathan (Diether Ocampo). But it soon becomes clear to her that skill alone is not enough to make her pass such a difficult course. So in her desperate attempt to succeed and create a good life for her family, she goes in search for a woman who can teach her a winning recipe.
Then she crosses paths with TJ (Sam Milby), an arrogant, wealthy businessman who is looking for his mother, the same woman Jillian is after. They hardly get along yet they eventually end up having a one-night stand as Jillian momentarily makes him forget about his worries about his mom's second marriage. They go their separate ways the next morning after a misunderstanding. It's only later on that Jillian finds out that she's pregnant, which means that she can't continue her studies. Then a twist of fate brings them together again in the Philippines six years after that fateful encounter abroad.
