Who's That Girl (2011 film)


Anne Curtis and Luis Manzano paired up, once again on the silver screen via "Who’s That Girl," Viva Film's opening salvo for 2011. Directed by MMFF 2010 Best Director Wenn V. Deramas, the man behind hit flicks like "Ang Tanging Ina" trilogy and "Petrang Kabayo."

Anne Curtis play as Bea, a wallflower, while Luis Manzano is John Eduque, a campus heartthrob who is Bea’s ultimate crush. John hardly takes notice of Bea. But one day, at her lowest, John surprisingly gives Bea a pep talk. This becomes life-changing for her.
Bea transforms into a beautiful and successful career woman and John remains to be her dream man. So when she reads his name in the obituary, Bea is shattered with grief and goes to the wake in hysterics to the shock of everyone. It turns out that the deceased is John Eduque Sr., John’s father. Realizing her mistake, Bea hurriedly leaves, unaware of the damage she has caused especially on the widow, played by Eugene Domingo. Thinking that Bea is the mistress of the deceased, Mrs. Eduque succumbs to depression. Seeing his mother’s misery, John looks for Bea to rectify the situation. But the revenge ploy backfires as he falls in love with her. Fearing his mother’s reaction becomes a dilemma.

Who’s That Girl is a 2011 Filipino Comedy/Romance film starring Anne Curtis, Luis Manzano, and Eugene Domingo produced by Viva Films and SMDC and released by Star Cinema. Who’s That Girl is a story about how a case of mistaken identity can be life-altering, told in such hilarious manner. Anne Curtis plays Elizabeth Pedrosa, a wallflower who transforms into a gorgeous and successful career woman because of her longtime dream guy, John Eduque, played by Luis Manzano. A collaboration between Director Wenn V. Deramas and writer Ms. Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario, both award-winners.

Star Cinema Distributed the Film on DVD internationally and advertised and sold through their online site and TV starting May 2011.

Plot

One mistake leads to unexpected romance. Elizabeth Pedrosa (Anne Curtis) is utterly smitten with a hunk of a guy named John Edugue (Luis Manzano). But she can only love him from afar as she is an absolute wallflower. Surprisingly, John approaches her and gives her encouragement at a time she needs it most. That becomes life-changing for Elizabeth. her stunning beauty and confidence come out and she succeeds in her career. So when she reads John's name in the obituary, grief strikes her. She goes to the wake in hysterics only to find out that the deceased is John Eduque Sr., John's father. Realizing her mistake, Elizabeth leaves in a rush, oblivious to the harm she has caused. Mrs. Eduque (Eugene Domingo) concludes that her late husband has been unfaithful, making her succumb to depression. Seeing his mother's misery, John vows to look for Elizabeth and take revenge. But more conflicts arise as he falls in love with her.  

When the school wallflower gets a pep talk from the most popular campus heartthrob at her lowest moment, this becomes a life-changing moment for her.

Elizabeth (Anne Curtis) transforms into a beautiful, intelligent and successful career woman, who has often fantasized about how her dream man John Eduque (Luis Manzano) had turned out to be. Until one day, she reads his name in the obituary. Bea is shattered with grief over a man she was not even romantically involved with. She goes to the wake in hysterics causing eyebrows to raise, especially the deceased’s widow. The John Eduque who died is actually the senior John Eduque, John’s father. Realizing her fumble, Bea hurriedly leaves, unaware of the damage she has caused to John’s family who suspects she is the unknown mistress. Mrs. Eduque succumbs to depression therefore John takes it upon himself to avenge his mother’s misery and hunts for the mystery woman. But instead of seeking revenge on Bea, John starts to fall for her the more he gets to know her.
